Teal Beauty “Peggy Sue”

This little beauty light-weight 1300 Vagabond is a 4 berth 2 x single beds up front with a pull out double and end kitchen. She was from a family in Otorohanga who had owned her from new. She had, had a very full life and extremely tired. To give you an idea the front lower exterior panel was stone damaged to such an extent it was reshaped to be inverted.

We fitted 4 new alloy panels to both ends of the van. Amazingly the chassis had never seen a coat of paint since the factory and was in stunning condition all it required was a grinder with a wire brush attached and then treated with rust kill to make sure and painted with Kill Rust from Wattyl. The wheels are always removed stripped and painted plus the hubs completely stripped cleaned and bearings washed checked and replaced if required. The brakes are fully dismantled and over hauled and re fitted with all new parts. we fit new tow couplings as a standard procedure, unless the original is in excellent condition. This wee van being a 4 berth we fitted an 85 ltr 3 way fridge in place of the old tired electric one and also replace the old cooker with a new Dometic 2 burner with electronic ignition for safety reasons. The People that purchased the van from us site unseen were featured in the NZ Herald Sunday Living magazine 5th Jan 2014 along with a bit about us Retro Caravans Northland Ltd;

Ashleigh And her children have named the van “PEGGY SUE”.
